The Confidant takes the wing chair idea and applies it to a banquette. The back rises to 125 cm, and at each end it curves forward into an upholstered wing at head-and-shoulder height, leaving open space below. Seated guests are screened from the side and some of the room's noise is softened, while the table remains open to service.
That makes it ideal for the seats a restaurant sells hardest: corner tables, anniversary tables, the two-top by the fire. It gives a booth-like sense of enclosure without a full partition, so it can sit along a wall in a room that would not accept a solid booth.
The wings are framed in timber as part of the back, not added as separate pieces, and upholstered with a continuous welt along the outline. The seat is a separate cushion on our standard plinth. Specify bouclé or wool for warmth and acoustic softness, or velvet for a more formal room.
